Riding for the Disabled (RDA)

RDA is a federation of Member Groups, which are dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities, through the provision of opportunities for horse riding and carriage driving. The volunteer groups enable people to improve their health and wellbeing, delivering a real and lasting therapy that not only benefits mobility and co-ordination, but encourages confidence and self-worth whilst having fun.

Many people are helping the RDA this year to raise money to send children to the Special Olympics on horseback. The RDA relies on the generosity of the public, they have no government funding.

A small group of fundraisers have made some beautiful Nappy Cakes, Taggie Blankets, New Baby Cards and Sock Cupcakes. All items are lovingly made with quality ingredients including; Pampers new baby nappies, new baby vests, muslims, socks and all gift wrapped in clear cellophane and tied with a pull bow. All money raised is in aid of sending the children to the Special Olympics.

Child's Vouce Appeal

Good neighbours act to save thousands of children as NSPCC launches £50m appeal to grow helplines

Press Releases: 22 September 2008

Child's Voice AppealNeighbours are acting to save thousands of children living in appalling and dangerous conditions, the NSPCC reveals today. Last year concerned members of the public contacted the charity's Helpline every five minutes on average, with nearly 10,000 calls being so serious they needed urgent attention. One in three of these came from people living near the abused child and their action helped at least 7000 children.

However, the full scale of child abuse in communities is even higher. At least one in six calls from neighbours and others cannot be answered by over-stretched Helpline counsellors, leaving many children at risk of serious harm.
